Sam Roberts To Headline Lakealive Festival

A couple of weeks ago, Sam Roberts cleaned up at the Junos in Edmonton. Now, it seems the scruffy star is becoming the hot ticket of the summer and the king of festival shows. Earlier this month, we told you that Roberts will join Sloan to play a fest on Toronto's Olympic Island on August 7. But before that, he will be headlining another festival set to kick off the summer. On June 18, Roberts, along with special guests The Trews, Matt Mays & El Torpedo and Shaker (that's a lot of shaggy hair), will play the first day of the three-day Lakealive Festival at Puslinch Lake in Cambridge, Ontario.
This is the second annual Lakealive Festival. Last year's performers included tried and true acts like Blue Rodeo, Randy Bachman, Natalie MacMaster, Leahy, Doc Walker and Danny Michel. The benefit weekend, put on by Puslinch Lake Conservation Association to support the extensive environmental restoration of Puslinch Lake, consists of a concert night (June 18), a festival day (June 19) and an Indie Day Competition (June 20).
The weekend will feature a wide variety of recreational activities and attractions, including boat tours, ski shows, artisans, rock climbing, children's activities, a beer garden, an auction sale, a boat parade of lights and a fireworks display. As with all outdoor festivals the show will go on rain or shine. Tickets are $29.50 (plus tax and service charge) and go on sale 10 a.m. this Friday (April 23) through Ticketmaster, Orange Monkey (Waterloo), Sleeman Brewery Retail Store (Guelph), Music In Orbit (Guelph), Encore Records (Kitchener), Chamber Of Commerce (Cambridge), Old Marina Restaurant (Puslinch Lake) or online at www.lakealive.ca.
