Sloan And Sam Roberts To Headline Fest On T.O.'s Olympic Island

Sloan

It's like a line-up stolen straight from our (and most of our readers') dreams. Hot off his big night at the Juno Awards in Edmonton, Sam Roberts and fellow Can-rockers Sloan have announced that they will be headlining a summer festival on Toronto's Olympic Island. That's right: Sam Roberts and Sloan. Can Olympic Island hold that much scruffy, dirty hair?

Last night's awards solidified the Roberts as Canada's next rock 'n' roll hero, as he took home three Junos including best album for his full-length debut We Were Born In A Flame.

Sloan, of course, are always guaranteed to put on an amazing show and we fully expect both bands to raise the bar for each other. The show takes place on August 7 (yes, one month after Canada Day). The festival will also feature some of Canada's most exciting young talents including The Stills, Death From Above, The Constantines and Buck 65, who won best alternative album at last nights Junos. More acts will be announced soon.

Tickets go on sale on April 8 at noon at all the usual outlets. A limited number of early bird tickets are available for $29.50, while regular tickets cost $35.50 plus taxes and service charge. Also, don't forget that it'll cost you five bucks to take the ferry to the island.
