Avril Lavigne Busts Hilary Duff's Chops... Again!

Last week, we told you that the increasingly bad-ass Avril Lavigne slammed cutie-pie teen queen Hilary Duff in an interview with Newsweek. After catching wind that Duff criticized her for allegedly dissing her fans for copping her tie 'n’ tank-top look, Avril tore a wee strip off of Duff, calling her a "mommy’s girl."
Now, interviews can be a tricky thing even for the most seasoned of artists. Sometimes if a reporter catches a pop star off guard, said pop star can blurt out a catty comment or two before realizing that anything they say can and will be used against them in print. So Avril said a couple of things about Princess Duff that should have only reached the ears of her girlfriends. Big deal.
Or maybe Avril’s comments weren’t as off-the-cuff as you’d think. According to the Boston Herald, Avril appeared on a Boston radio station after the Newsweek story broke, and when questioned about the Duff dis, Avie opened her mouth and dissed again.
"I’m like, 'Who are you to talk about me? You should know better,’" Lavigne complained. "Don’t talk trash with me."
Lavigne then addressed Duff over the airwaves: "You can go screw yourself."
To prove that she’s really tough, Avril proceeded to jump up and grab a photo of herself on the studio wall. "I hate that [bleeping — we can only assume that the f-word was inserted here] photo!" she yelped, as she tore it apart.
Is the Avril/Hilary feud a mere case of teenage cattiness (many do describe young Hollywood as a "big high school") or a carefully constructed marketing plan? Well, Avril did get her original burst of press when Let Go was released after she bad-mouthed Britney Spears right in these very pages. Hilary Duff has yet to respond to Lavigne’s baiting.
