Joan Jett And Cyndi Lauper Added To CMW Conference Line-Up

If you've perused the list of Canadian Music Week keynote speakers, the roster has probably left you, the average music fan, somewhat nonplussed. While the industry-types listed are sure to provide loads of valuable info, every conference needs a little sizzle to bring the people into the seminars, right?
CMW has just added that sizzle by announcing two new celebrity interviews to be held during the conference. Both Joan Jett and Cyndi Lauper will appear at CMW to speak about their experiences as artists. The legendary Jett, along with long-time collaborator Kenny Laguna will engage in a public interview at Toronto's Westin Harbour Castle Hotel on Friday, March 5 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Jett will speak about her path to tough-girl icon superstardom and will also discuss her plans for the future, including a new album. The equally legendary Lauper will be interviewed on Saturday, March 6 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., also at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel.
Lauper is expected to offer insight on her ability to survive in the music industry after being deemed The Next Big Thing way back in 1984. Lauper's last album, At Last, a collection of standards, was a huge departure from her signature '80s pop sound.
Lauper will also perform while in Toronto, at Massey Hall on March 6. She'll also play Ottawa's Congress Centre on March 7 and Hamilton's Hamilton Place Theatre on March 8.
For info on tickets for both these interviews as well as general CMW information, check out the Canadian Music Week website. For complete coverage of CMW, swing by ChartAttack's special online CMW section.
