Few people who grew up in the '70s are unfamiliar with the Lindsey Buckingham-Stevie Nicks era of Fleetwood Mac. The band's 1977 album Rumours sold more than 19 million copies and its singles are still played on classic rock radio on an hourly basis.
Fleetwood Mac's three classic Buckingham-Nicks albums — the 1975 self-titled album, Rumours and 1979's Tusk — hold a special place in the hearts of some of us here at ChartAttack (matched only by our near freakish affection for Jackson Browne), which is why we're excited about a series of Mac rereleases planned by Rhino Records for the spring.
On March 23, Rhino will release deluxe editions of the three aforementioned albums. The re-release of the self-titled album will be slim on extras, featuring an undoubtedly funky jam plus the single versions of "Say You Love Me," "Rhiannon," "Over My Head" and "Blue Letter."
Rumours and Tusk will be substantially fancier both albums will come with a bonus disc full of demos and outtakes. With all the drama surrounding the divorce rock of Rumours, the bonus disc is bound to reveal some juicy insight as to how the band wrote and recorded while four of the band's five members were in the process of ending romantic relationships with each other.
The reissues come after last year's successful Fleetwood Mac tour, in support of the band's most recent album, Say You Will. The album was the first studio work to feature both Buckingham and Nicks in 15 years although the band's third songwriter, Christine McVie left the band shortly before the group entered the studio.
