Jack White And Von Bondies Singer Involved In Bloody Punch-Out!

Garage wars, indeed!
According to police reports posted on the Smoking Gun website, White Stripes singer/guitarist Jack White was involved in a bloody brawl with Jason Stollsteimer, the singer/guitarist of fellow Detroit garage rock band The Von Bondies.
The incident occurred at the Magic Stick nightclub in Detroit, where the two rockers were on hand to check out alt.country band Blanche. According to Stollsteimer's police report, White approached him during the show and started shouting at him.
Not wanting to escalate an already touchy relationship between the two, Stollsteimer says he refused to talk to White, which caused the Stripe to "become enraged." Stollsteimer claims that White then pulled him to the ground, spat in his face and punched him in the face about seven times. Stollsteimer suffered a bloody nose and his face puffed up nice and good, leaving him to seek treatment at the Detroit Receiving Hospital.
After Stollsteimer filed his police report, White filed a police report of his own, claiming that it was in fact Stollsteimer who started the fight. White fully admits that he busted up Stollsteimer's face right good, but he went on record saying that Stollsteimer pulled him to the ground and started hitting him "around the face and body."
Now, for those of you who haven't the opportunity to see him up close and personal, Jack White is a big man — and he claims he used his might to turn the fight around and defend himself by, well, punching Stollsteimer out.
Either way, it's safe to say that the two men are not friends, despite their mutual denial of reports that they've long been tangled up in a nasty feud. The two used to be best pals — White even produced The Von Bondies' 2001 album Lack Of Communication and reportedly dated Von Bondies guitarist Marcie Bolan.
No reason has been given for Saturday night's scuffle. White has also not yet been formally charged, but if Stollsteimer's story checks out, he could face misdemeanor assault charges.
In other Jack White news, today (Dec. 16) marks the release of the Cold Mountain soundtrack, which features five new songs — two originals and three covers — performed by the solo Stripe. White also plays a small part in the film, which will hit theatres on Christmas Day.
