Sting Named Person Of The Year... According to MusiCares

British musician Sting has been recognized by the MusiCares Foundation with the prestigious Person of the Year award.
The award gives a nod to Sting's accomplishments over the years and doesn't just pay attention to his musicianship, but to his involvement in humanitarian and environmentalist causes as well.
Sting has long been involved in raising awareness about environmental issues and has been involved with many campaigns to help save the rain forests. The accolade will be presented by the Recording Academy at the 14th annual celebration of the MusiCares Foundation's financial assistance program. The event, which coincides with the Grammy Awards as part of something called Grammy Fest, will take part in Los Angeles on February 7.
The MusiCares Foundation established itself in 1989 and has honored Bono, Billy Joel and Elton John in the past. Sting will also receive Billboard's Century Award as a part of the Billboard Music Awards on December 10.
