One of the greatest things about Sofia Coppola's 1999 movie The Virgin Suicides (in addition to Kirsten Dunst's airy performance and the fact that it's based on the incredible novel by Jeffrey Eugenides) was the music in the film.

With a score by Air and tunes by Sloan and Todd Rundgren, the music was as good as the movie. Now, with a new film in the works, Coppola is aiming to do it all again. Coppola's new movie Lost In Translation is due in September and it'll be accompanied by what looks to be an amazing soundtrack.

First and foremost, the soundtrack will mark the return of My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields, who hasn't released any of his own material since MBV's 1991 album Loveless (although he has collaborated with other people in recent years, including Primal Scream, Dinosaur Jr., Curve and Yo La Tengo).

Shields has four new songs on the soundtrack and they've also thrown on an old My Bloody Valentine track. Of course, Shields isn't the only attraction on the soundtrack. Redd Kross drummer Brian Reitzell hooks up with Roger Manning Jr. (Jellyfish/Beck) hook up for two songs and there's also a new track by Coppola's old pals Air. Finally, there are a good batch of previously released tracks by the likes of The Jesus & Mary Chain, Phoenix and Squarepusher.

Here's a track listing for Lost In Translation:
"Intro/Tokyo"
Kevin Shields "City Girl"
Brian Reitzell & Roger J. Manning Jr. "On The Subway"
Sebastian Tellier "Fantino"
Kevin Shields "Golf Course"
Death In Vegas "Girls"
Squarepusher "Tommib"
Phoenix "Too Young"
Happy End "Kaze Wo Atsumete"
Brian Reitzell & Roger J. Manning Jr. "On The Subway"
Kevin Shields "Ikebana"
My Bloody Valentine "Sometimes"
Air "Alone In Kyoto"
Kevin Shields "Are You Awake?"
The Jesus & Mary Chain "Just Like Honey"
