Weird Al Takes On Avril Lavigne

Weird Al Yankovic has poked fun at a lot of artists in his double-decade long career: Madonna, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and, of course, Michael Jackson.
While Weird Al's music appeals to few people over the age of 13, you've got to admit that a parody by the man that dares to be stupid is a rite of passage for any popular pop star.
Weird Al is releasing a new album this month and unsurprisingly he's decided to take a jab at Canada's hottest lil' pop star, Avril Lavigne. Weird Al has transformed Avril's "Complicated" into "A Complicated Song."
We're not totally sure what the subject matter of the parody will be, but we're expecting ham-fisted references to gluttony, game shows, bologna and polka music.
"A Complicated Song" will appear on Al's new album, Poodle Hat, which will be in stores on May 20. Poodle Hat will also feature parodies of Eminem's "Lose Yourself," Nelly's "Hot In Herre," Billy Joel's "Piano Man" and The Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way." The centerpiece of the album will be "Angry White Boy Polka," a medley in which Al covers nu garage rock and nu metal songs by bands including The Hives, The White Stripes, The Strokes, System Of A Down, Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock. The Eminem spoof, "Couch Potato" (in which Weird Al pays tribute to, yes, couch potatoes), is likely to draw some attention, seeing as Em's become a bit of a sacred cow in critical circles as of late.
While Eminem himself OKed Al's use of the song, the rapper, famous for spoofing fellow musicians like Moby and Britney Spears in his videos, he will not allow Yankovic to make a video for the song. Seems that Em is afraid that his reputation as a serious artiste may be marred by the Weird Al treatment.
Here's a tracklisting for Poodle Hat:
