DMX To Call It Quits?

After 10-plus years in the rap game and nearly 15 million records sold since his debut album in 1998, it looks like X ain't gon' give it to us for very much longer.

Multi-platinum rapper DMX spoke to MTV.com and confirmed rumours that he will be retiring from hip-hop for good. He told MTV that his next record, It's Not A Game, will be his last.

After making more money than Scrooge McDuck, X plans to spend more time in church to study the Bible and the word of God (really). He is also putting his children above business, planning to spend more time with and take care of his new eight month-old baby boy. He will continue to act in films as well as run his label Bloodline Records, but he claims family will take priority over both.

DMX promises that It's Not A Game will be the most spectacular record of his career, ensuring that fans will remember him as going out with a bang. The album, which he says is even more autobiographical than his last, will drop before this summer's arrival.

He also says the album will have one joint featuring the ridiculously huge 50 Cent, of whom he is a personal fan. After the release of It's Not A Game, DMX will get ready to release stuff on Bloodline, including new albums from Bazaar Royale, Big Stan and Kashmir.

While X may produce some tracks for rappers on the Bloodline roster, he will focus more on helping his artists with personal guidance after learning as much as he has about the music business over the past several years.

DMX isn't the only rapper who says he'll be retiring soon. Dr. Dre, who is now 37 years-old, has also told MTV.com that his new album, Detox, due out this summer, will be his last record. Ja Rule, Puff Daddy, Master P, Nelly and Snoop Dogg have also recently threatened that they are considering hanging up their microphones for good. For some of 'em, that couldn't come too soon.
