The British Hate Nickelback, Want To Snog Avril

Our favourite British music rag NME handed out its annual awards today (February 13) and while the mag mostly favoured their standard buzz bands, the names of a couple of Canadians were called out.
Apparently, just like those of you who voted in our readers' poll, the Brits like 'em young — Avril Lavigne won the Most Sexy Woman Award. Even more surprisingly, Nickelback, who tore up the British charts last year, were voted Worst Band. Avril was up against a pretty saucy bunch. The other vixens up for the award were Kylie, Meg White, Christina Aguilera plus Brit-celebs Karen O and Charlotte Hatherley (yeah, we don't know who they are either). Nickelback on the other hand, were up against stinkers like S Club Juniors, Westlife, Atomic Kitten, Blue — and Stereophonics. Stereophonics! Surely you jest, NME!
The other NME winners are all posted on the NME website. Old standbys Oasis were the most prestigious winners of the night, picking up the Virgin Megastore Best U.K. Band award and NME Artist Of The Year. Oasis singer Liam Gallagher was deemed to have the Best Haircut. The Hives were named Best International Band, Ryan Adams Best Solo Artist and The Clash were given a special Godlike Genius Award.
