DMX And Audioslave Crank Out Two Songs

Chris Cornell

Remember when Zack de la Rocha left Rage Against The Machine in 2000 and we were all sad?

Then Soundgarden's Chris Cornell took over for de la Rocha and we were all glad?

They were in the studio by May of 2001 and things were going well until the band formerly known as Rage signed on for Ozzfest 2002 and Cornell split. Then we were sad again.

We know this trip down memory lane can be emotionally draining, but don't worry, for this story has a happy ending that keeps getting happier. As most people know, Cornell returned and the world smiled again. The band has since been christened Audioslave and they've stayed together long enough to record their first album, which has been given a November 19 release date.

Recently Audioslave recorded the song "Here I Come," intended for the Jackass soundtrack. At the request of rap star DMX, they shipped it off to X, who added his vocals to the track. DMX was so into the Audioslave sound, he decided that he'd use it for an album of his own, rather than donate it to the Jackass people.

The band wrote and recorded a second song with the rapper for the movie's soundtrack. And so came "Wrecking Ball." DMX put his vocals on the new song and it was ready to go... well, almost.

Audioslave seem to specialize in complications, because they backed out of the soundtrack when they realized it would be coming out at the same time as Audioslave's album, which had been delayed by Cornell's departure this summer.

The bottom line is that there is a kick-ass song out there that is currently homeless. As for "Here I Come," DMX has decided to use it to the soundtrack of Cradle 2 The Grave, an upcoming movie starring the rapper and Kung Fu star Jet Li. Look for that movie in the new year.
