Avril Lavigne Kicks Some Chart Butt

The 17-year-old girl who's demolishing all her competition in the pop music world can add one more accomplishment to her ever-growing list.
Avril Lavigne has broken yet another record as her single "Complicated" continues to dominate the charts. This time, though, it's a big one 'cuz she's tossed the pop-queen herself, Madonna, from the most weeks at #1 on the Contemporary Hit Radio chart position. "Complicated" has been at the top for 11 straight weeks now, one week longer than Madonna's single "Music" which established the record in 2000.
As previously reported, Lavigne is fresh off of kicking Nickelback out of the "most spins in one week on American radio" record and had broken a bunch of others as well. So needless to say, Miss Lavigne is hot, hot, hot.
Her debut album, Let Go, already has platinum certification in the U.S. and is over double platinum here in Canada. In total, she's sold over a million freakin' records in just nine weeks. So what has Avril been up to in light of all this success? Kickin' back in the Caribbean with oodles of good-looking young men bringing her free virgin Pina Coladas? Nope, she's been working hard making sure that Let Go reaches far beyond it's humble Canadian beginnings.
Lavigne has just finished up a promotional tour oversees in Europe and Japan and is working on completing the video for her next single "Sk8er Boi," due out later this month. She'll wrap up the summer by coming back to Canada to give her fans a chance to catch her live in Ottawa on August 21 at the SuperEX and Toronto on September 2 at Mix 99.9's Beachfest.
