Stompin' Tom To Sell His Stompin' Board

A few months back, we told you that the honourable Stompin' Tom Connors was planning a massive tour of the eastern part of the country.
Well, that tour is almost ready to wrap up (the last date is July 3 in Guelph) and you know what that means: The selling of the stompin' board.
Seems that stompin' boards aren't much good for more than one tour (they get all stomped up, you know), so long ago Stompin' Tom decided that he'd end his tours by auctioning off his trademark stompin' board to raise money for charity.
Over the years Connors has raised up to $15,000 for charities like The Daily Bread Food Band and Habitat For Humanity. That's a lot of money for a ratty lookin' piece of wood, but obviously Connors' fans have felt that the piece of Canadiana, not to mention the warm fuzzy feeling they get from helping people out, is worth it.
Connors will be hawking off his board in Mississauga tomorrow night (June 27) at his show at the Hershey Centre. All money raised from the auction will go toward the Jerry Love Children's Fund, an organization that provides aid to underprivileged kids by funding their participation in Mississauga recreational programs like summer camps.
Stompin' Tom is touring in support of his latest album, An Ode For The Road.
