The Tragically Hip To Play With The Dears

Got nothing to do St-Jean Baptiste Day weekend in Montreal? Do you even know who St-Jean Baptiste is? Do you care?
If you answered no, no, and no, go check out the newest show to be added to The Tragically Hip's touring schedule on Saturday, June 22. The show is an extra-cool one however, cause you get to see other Canadian heavyweight favourites including Sarah Harmer, The Watchmen , Moonraker and The Dears all on the same bill. All for only, yes only, $49.50.
The Tragically Hip are hosting the fete in anticipation of their upcoming new album In Violet Light. The album is due to be released on June 11, with the first single, "It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken" hitting radio on June 7. The stop in Montreal is the beginning of a much larger touring schedule that will venture extensively through the U.S. with a few stops in Canada (including a whack of festivals that we've already mentioned).
The Hip have been building up hype for the new album through their website, where the newly formed "Hip Club" offers fans prizes and preview downloads. The site also features a Flash intro that will be leaking out an extra 30 seconds of the new single every week (on Mondays) until it's released to radio. Yep, you heard it, only four more days until those next precious seconds can be heard.
If you can't wait 'til Monday, trying playing this week's section over and over again and it might sound like a whole song. If you're interested in catching the June 22 event, head down to Bourbon Street North in Montreal. Gates open at 2 p.m., show at 3 p.m. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (May 24).
