Adam Ant Lands In Mental Ward

Sorry everyone, but due to new commitments, '80s pop superstar Adam Ant will not be attending the U.K. Here And Now Tour as planned.
Looks like his music comeback will have to be put on hold while he undergoes assessment at a psychiatric hospital in London, England. The British Mental Health Act allows doctors to hold Ant for up to 28 days while they determine whether or not he's lost his marbles.
The psychiatric commitment follows the unpleasant situation that we reported on earlier this week when Ant, who is known to mom and dad as Stuart Leslie Goddard, was charged for brandishing a gun at a London pub when they refused to let him in. According to the not entirely reliable British newspaper, The Mirror, Ant believes he is being conspired against.
He is quoted as saying, "They put me in the Alice in Wonderland ward because they think I'm crazy. The whole thing's a conspiracy and they are out to get me. I'm not mad."
This isn't the first time Ant has made a spectacle of himself. According to NME, he had to be forced off the stage at a Christmas Party at the London Regency Rooms last month. After performing a set of his '80s tunes, he refused to leave the stage.
Ant was planning to perform at the Here And Now Tour, taking advantage of the retro invasion to boost his dearly departed music career. After taking the pop music world by storm in Adam And The Ants, and then as a solo artist, Ant's musical career all but disappeared. Being the trooper that he is, he rolled with the punches and fell into the warm embrace of acting.
He may be a far cry from "Goody Two Shoes," but poor Ant probably just wanted some beef jerky and a couple of pints. Now he's going to be reading ink blobs on pieces of cardboard for a month.
