Nirvana Saga Continues

Don't you just love a good old fashioned soap opera? Last week we told you about the legal battles that are raging between former Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic and Kurt Cobain widow Courtney Love. On Thursday, we told you about Grohl and Novoselic's claims (through a court action and an open letter to Nirvana fans) that Courtney Love was blocking the release of new Nirvana tracks in order to bring attention to herself and her own career.
On Friday, we let you in on Courtney's response to their accusations with an open letter of her own, in which she promised that she only has Cobain's best interests at heart.
Now, Cobain's mother, Wendy Fradenburg Cobain O'Connor has thrown her two cents in. Will Courtney forgive Dave and Krist? Will Wendy turn her back on Courtney and seek custody of young Francis Bean? Will Kurt's evil twin, Dirk Cobain, enter the picture and reveal that he was actually the one who wrote all the Nirvana songs? Stay tuned... it's another episode of The Days Of Kurt's After-Life.
According to the slightly gossipy British music site Dotmusic, Mrs. Cobain (Wendy, not Courtney), has issued a pro-Courtney, anti-Grohl/Novoselic statement. O'Connor, who allegedly has been living on Courtney's dime for the last few years, called Novoselic and Grohl "liars and crooks." She went on to say that she was "shocked and disgusted" by the two ex-Nirvana members behaviour and that the pair "never wrote a Nirvana song in their lives."
Worst of all, O'Connor claims that in the years leading up to his death, Cobain actually "despised" his two bandmates. Ouch.
"It's never been in my nature to take advantage of my son's stunning success," O'Connor wrote. "But I know that my son would want me to stand-up for him and his family in this moment of what I can only describe as total betrayal."
The legal battle, and subsequent battle of words, was sparked when Love objected to the release of a proposed box set that was to include an unreleased Nirvana track called "You Know You're Right." Needless to say that box set won't be out in time for this year, or likely next year's, Christmas season.
