The Real McKenzies Team Up With Some Hillside Thickets

"You! Out! Not you, you're too flabby! YOU! OUT!"
Get out your crusty old kilts, boys and girls, 'cause it's time to get punk and drunk with The Real McKenzies as they team up with intergalactic geeks The Darkest Of The Hillside Thickets. The Vancouver-based bad boys are touring Canada, lifting their kilts with Scottish pride and promoting their new album, Loch'd And Loaded, released on Honest Don's Records.Frontman Paul McKenzie leads his fellow patriots, guitarists Dirty Kurt Robertson and The Bone, bassist Jamie Fawkes, drummer Brad Attitude and bagpiper Matthew McNasty.Paul McKenzie said that he founded the band in 1994 as revenge against his parents for a childhood of being forced to sing and dance in a kilt. Revenge just couldn't get any sweeter for McKenzie as he belts out his rowdy versions of traditional Scottish folk songs, chugging beer and flashing his wang. Loch'd And Loaded is The Real McKenzies third full-length album following 1998's Clash Of The Tartans and 1995's self-titled album. The Real McKenzies join forces with sci-fi, metal, punk rockers The Darkest Of The Hillside Thickets on this new tour. DOTHT will be playing songs from their latest album, Spaceship Zero, the soundtrack to the film directed by Jeremy Campbell. The film is based on a 1950s radio show called Spaceship To The Stars. Known for their musical homage to H.P. Lovecraft, members Merrick Helge Atkinson, Jordan Pratt, Robert Fugger and Warren Banks will hopefully open the show wearing their famous spacesuits. Those in attendance might want to be on the look out for alien probes.October 11 Chilliwack, BC @ Area 51October 12 Calgary, AB @ The NightgalleryOctober 13 Edmonton, AB @ The Power PlantOctober 16 Saskatoon, SK @ Amigo'sOctober 17 Humboldt, SK @ Multiplex with the The SmallsOctober 18 Winnipeg, MB @ Ozzie'sOctober 19 Thunder Bay, ON @ The ApolloOctober 22 St. Catherines, ON @ Mind BombOctober 25 Toronto, ON @ The HorseshoeOctober 26 Ottawa, ON @ Zaphod BeeblebroxOctober 27 Montreal, PQ @ Jupiter Room—April Labine
