Duotang To Open For English Beat's Dave Wakeling

Hot on the heels of their third album, The Bright Side, Rod Slaughter and Sean Allum a.k.a. Duotang will play a series of dates with the English Beat's Dave Wakeling in July.

Rod and Sean will fill the opening spot for the legendary Wakeling after touching down in Vancouver, BC in late June to celebrate the release of The Bright Side and provide support for Mint labelmates the New Pornographers. The Bright Side debuted at #33 on the Canadian Campus Radio Charts this week. This past weekend Duotang took part in the Datson's All Nighter in Montreal, QC.

Wakeling, the early '80s British ska movement icon, will be touring North America with his solo project. If the name doesn't ring a bell, the title-track to the John Hughes' movie She's Having A Baby might mean something to you. Among rock elitist circles (or anyone who's ever heard of The Specials, Madness, Selecter and of course, the English Beat) he's considered a hero of ska's heyday.
