Bjork Album Out August 28

Bjork's been changing the release date for her long awaited follow-up to Selmasongs as often as she changes her quirky outfits. But a date has finally been set in stone — well at least soap stone: August 28. The album, to be titled Vespertine, was produced by Bjork and long time collaborator Spike Stent.

The Icelandic vocalist's break from recording was punctuated by an acting stint that won her recognition for her theatrical abilities. She scored a Best Acting Award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in the award-winning movie Dancer In The Dark and an Oscar nomination for Best Original song for "I've Seen It All," a duet with Radiohead's Thom Yorke.

An album preview concert was held at New York's Riverside Church on May 22, at that gig Bjork previewed six new songs from Vespertine for a small crowd of 100. A 12-person choir, harpist Zeena Parkins and experimental electronic duo Matmos backed her. According to a Billboard.com review, during opening song "Undone" she walked up and down the aisles while the spellbound crowd sat open-mouthed.

Bjork recently recorded the video for the single "Cocoon," directed by renowned artist Eiko Ishioka. The video features Bjork with bleached blond eyebrows and apparently she'll be in her birthday suit, so stay glued to the tube.
