Even though one of his biggest fears is having his album leaked on Napster, David Usher and his peeps have opted to give ChartAttack readers the first listen.
Usher's sophomore solo album, Morning Orbit, won't be hitting stores until July 24, but ChartAttack has one of the tracks prepped for your streaming pleasure.
From the Moist frontman's follow-up effort to the gold-selling Little Songs, the track "Alone In The Universe," features a catchy-as-hell chorus (sounding almost like a whole chorus of Ushers) and rushing guitars.
The first single from the solo disc was mixed by U.K. producer Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers) and has already had a video shot in Toronto earlier last week.
Although "Alone In The Universe" can be heard in its entirety (in either Real Audio or Windows Media streaming), not much information has been officially released about the album itself. Some of the guest names being bandied about include members of Moist, Canadian reggae-pop guy, Snow and Kim Bingham.
Although an actual tracklisting has yet to be confirmed, song titles include: "Too Close To The Sun," "Crazy Afternoon," "A Day In The Life" (no, it is not a Beatles cover) and "Fast Car" (yes, it's a Tracy Chapman cover!). Also raising eyebrows is a track titled, "Black Black Heart" that purportedly features prominent samples from the French opera, Lakme. And yes, there have also been rampant rumours of an upcoming Canadian solo tour, but details are still forthcoming.
