Break Out The Mullets, It's The First Rush Convention

Rush Through The Looking Glass Some Real Trainspotting!!

Next weekend thar'll be aging rock fans, mullets and geeks aplenty at that thar Rush Convention in Toronto.

It's North America's first-ever Rush Convention, organized by the Face Up To Hunger Foundation, a bunch of Rush fans who are into "giving back to the community" and 97.7 HTZ-FM. It takes place this weekend at Toronto's National Trade Centre, with most of the proceeds heading to the Daily Bread Food Bank Foundation of Toronto.

Described as a "classy rock 'n' roll affair" (no, really, that's what it says), the convention will allow Rush fans from all over to participate in a hootin' and hollerin' good time. Events include Rush celebrity impressions and contests for creative writing, parody lyrics, the biggest Rush collection and Rush Jeopardy.

And before you get thinking that the fun couldn't become much more dangerous, there's even RUSH KARAOKE; get down and wail away with your favourite band. (BE the Geddy Lee...)

Other items on the agenda are a charity auction, guest speakers Donna Halper (credited as the first person to bring Rush to the airwaves) and Terry Brown (co-produced albums 2112 and Moving Pictures) along with a tribute band concert. The concert takes place on May 19 at Toronto's Opera House and features Brazilians Rosho.
