Rufus Wainwright OST Double Shot

Fans of that coy fella, Rufus Wainwright, are going to have to save a lot of pennies in the coming months.
Not only is our favourite crooner coming out with a new album, Poses (last we heard, release date June 19), but he's also contributing songs to the soundtracks of two new movies, the Nicole Kidman/Ewan McGregor project Moulin Rouge and that crazy animation thing, Shrek.
Here in the ChartAttack office we've been marking out to the copy of Poses we've got tucked away in the Box Of Secret Advances. Particular favs are lead-off track "Cigarettes And Chocolate Milk" and "One Man Guy," a song we strongly suggest not humming while in the dressing room during your weekly hockey game.
The Moulin/Rufus song is called "Complainte De La Butte" and is sung by Rufus in both French and English. That's a twist on the original written by Jean Renoir, which was all French. It will be out on May 8. Also on the star-studded soundtrack are David Bowie doing "Nature Boy," Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink doing that song where they're all in lingerie (yum), Bono, Beck, Timbaland and Fatboy Slim.
For the Dreamworks movie Shrek (OST available May 15) there's a more downmarket horizontal integration vibe. With one for the trainspotters, Rufus will be performing a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." Though we've yet to see the film, we suspect this will be one of the better musical moments considering other contributors to the soundtrack include Baja Men performing "Best Years Of Our Lives," Eddie Murphy (that's right) doing "I'm A Believer" and Smash Mouth, who deserve no introduction.
