The Smashing Pumpkins Hometown Farewell

Since the news of Smashing Pumpkins break up back in May, fans have been filled with anticipation about how the band will conclude the last 12 years of their successful career.
Finally the band has announced how they plan on going out — by performing exactly where they started — in their hometown of Chicago, where they began their careers over a decade a go. The first show will be played at the United Center on Nov. 29 and the second is to be played at the more intimate setting of Cabaret Metro on Dec 2.
The Cabaret Metro was the first place that Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlain and D'Arcy played back on Oct 5 1988. Since that date the group has played over 900 shows in over 30 countries recorded over 160 songs and has sold over 25 million albums.Canadian fans of the Pumpkins said goodbye to the band this year during the Summersault tour. Their final performance in Canada was in Halifax on August 16.
