Matt Good Not Into Taking It Up The Ass

Having just zipped over to Matt Good's website, it seems there's a whole bunch of neat stuff going on with Canada's king of alt-angst.

First and foremost, the Matthew Good Band entered the studio to record their fourth album last week. According to the website, they'll be in the studio until Dec. 15 and may do some additional recording in the spring of next year. The tentative title for the record is The Audio Of Being.

In other, more salacious news, Matt Good's October 2000 manifesto titled "3" addresses the most titillating news story we got our hands on in a long time — Matt's storming off the stage in Regina after getting hit in the face with a shoe. Of course, we only tweak to this because "the press in this country are starved for anything that they can inflate" but nonetheless, the comically irritating sequence of events Matt outlines in the manifesto makes his reaction to getting plunked in the face by someone's Vans that day that much more understandable.

He's not apologetic about walking off either, as evidenced in this closing statement:

"Now I realize that walking off stage that night may result in the loss of some fans. It may mean that some of you might not purchase our next record. That's fine by me. Everyone seems to think that people in this business are so worried about pleasing everyone that we're willing to bend over and take it in the ass. So, if that's your line of thinking, then you can go fuck yourself."

And finally, proving that our little monkey boy just may have truly "made it," The Matthew Good Band have been listed on the Hollywood Stock Exchange . At a current share price of $8.27, they're comfortably more valuable than Machine Head at $6.37, but well below Canucks like Moist ($10.83), The Moffatts ($20.58) and Rush ($23.35). If you sign up, say "Broph" referred you so I get a hundred grand in HSX money.
