After 18 days of continuous music, Epidemic Music Group has managed to break the world record for Longest Concert by Multiple Artists!
The audience (which, to break the record, could never fall below 10 people) enjoyed over 450 performers from a wide variety of genres at Stouffville’s Earl of Whitchurch pub.
"This concert was such an incredible experience,” said organizer Kevin Ker. “It exceeded our expectations in so many ways. We set out to accomplish a world record but it was the community, the music, the charities and the new friendships that became the focus.
The epic concert was not without a good cause: a different charity was showcased each night, including Habitat for Humanity and United Way. All told, over $90,000 was raised for the different charities!
The Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research was also a beneficiary, prompting this response from Sunnybrook Foundation’s director of community engagement Winnette Sampson:
“We are so pleased to see this community of music lovers support the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research,” said Sampson. “Your support will help us conduct ground-breaking research that will benefit patients not only at Sunnybrook, but across Canada and around the world."
