Toronto folk surrealist Ronley Teper and her band of merry freaks The Lipliners have quietly been tinkering away on a project with Montreal-based musician, director, and animator Davide Di Saro over the last 8 years. It's grown into a grand tapestry, Boschian in scope, that reflects the inhabitants of Teper's creative universe. Today, we get our first peak inside.
"Faith" is the start in a trilogy of animated short films. Entirely hand drawn, it's remarkable for its insane detail, tremendous scale, and rich mythology, embarking on a fantastical flight in tandem with Teper's own.
"The adventure unfolds among a living landscape representing the paradoxical friction of force between our real world and dreams to achieve," Teper explains to Chart Attack. "Within this world we gracefully follow a fantastical character roaming with his soul, toward an unalloyed river which streams silver shimmers of faith and optimistic peace."
"Ultimately the adventurous soul, embarks on a floating mountain disappearing in the distance while we learn how to respectfully pose an eternal farewell to what we have left behind."
