Tonight Modern Baseball will kick off their tour with Joyce Manor and Thin Lips in Nashville, Tennessee. The hefty 34-date road trip is in support of Holy Ghost, MoBo's recently released third album, a concise pop-punk coloured record that has gotten the band some well-deserved attention. Despite the praise, Modern Baseball are still as down to earth as you can be, and for this tour they're making an effort to ensure the safety of their fans.
Recognizing the inappropriate behaviour and aggression that seems to have found a home in the pop-punk scene at large, Modern Baseball have taken the lead from Speedy Ortiz and set up a hotline for audience members to text or call if they feel unsafe at any of their upcoming shows. By calling or texting 201-731-MOBO, you'll be able to contact the band's tour manager who can then notify security.
Speaking to MTV, lead-singer Brendan Lukens discussed the need for some sort of safety mechanism at their shows:
"I feel like enough people were just coming up to us after shows and hitting us up via Twitter in general and just giving us subtle hints or just flat-out telling us that they were having a weird time or an uneasy time at our shows. So after we saw bands like PWR BTTM and Speedy [Ortiz], all these sick bands, do really great things to help their fans out, we thought we could hopefully do something similar."
In addition to Modern Baseball's hotline on their upcoming tour, they'll also be following the lead of PWR BTTM, a duo from New York state, by ensuring to provide gender-neutral washrooms at all of their shows.

So, despite the damage done to the music scene by aggressors and creeps, it's relieving to know that there's bands out there who are working to clean things up. Be sure to support the bands who are pushing these kinds of initiatives.
You can see Modern Baseball play at any of the following dates.
