M.I.A. earned a bunch of provocateur capital when she called the NSA scandal in her song "The Message" three years before the Snowden leaks. But how did she know? How much human flesh did the lizard bankers make her eat to get those files? That's my conspiracy, so back off.

That's why we should pay attention to her "Double Bubble Trouble" video, set in an apartment complex where every one of its many cultures are rising up. The visuals for The Partysquad-featuring globetrotting dance track have an ambivalent view on 3D printed guns and drones, with a layering that resembles a multi-tabbed Tumblr/Skype/Wikileaks marathon on your MacBook. It's fun too, like a roadmap to a revolution that doesn't discount the popularity of sheesha smoke trick videos on YouTube.

M.I.A.'s Matangi is out now via Interscope.
