Background/Composition: OFF! are a punk supergroup that isn’t actively shitting on the memories of their previous bands.
Energy in the barrage of tracks. Energy in Keith Morris’s condescending uncle routine (Jabs at the audience included “Are you playing hooky?” Are you skipping curfew?” etc). Energy in Steven Shane McDonald's Pipefiter-from-Hard Core Logo routine. It was unrelenting, and the audience kept it perpetual. Thanks electricity, beamed to us from other planets.
White Devils in Dreadlocks: D-
What do you call a group of white people with dreadlocks? A “musty?” They were all here, attracted by Keith Morris’ pheromones. A dreadlock combover, y’all. Flagrant.
“You know the difference between you and me? I make this look good.” – Will Smith, Men In Black: B+
Punk is baking. You can make it from a box, or simple and cheap from scratch, but the risk of fucking up grows. This is the route OFF! chooses. They work with the same chords and fills and words you or I might in the garage and make it something more, sometimes repeating themselves (they played over 40 songs in just under an hour). Whatever it is, it is bigger than pedigree.
