VIDEO PREMIERE: Solids bring back the glory days of grunge in “Over The Sirens”

A new low-budg video from the Montreal duo that, in a fitter timeline, would have debuted on television.

- Apr 16, 2014

Despite the neverending comparisons to other rock duos, Solids have always seemed more in step with '80s and '90s underground. In our UNCHARTED profile of the Montreal duo, we called their debut album Blame Confusion "a fuzzy distillation of lo-fi punk energy, ‘90s college rock hooks, warm pop songcraft and piles and piles of riffs"; their story basically plays like a fast-forwarded version of Our Band Could Be Your Life. Now they have a video to match.

We're debuting the disorienting new black & white clip for "Over The Sirens" below, but in a fitter timeline it'd have it's premiere on some sort of magical all-music television channelThat's intentional, says director Phil Console (a cool Montreal garage rocker in his own right):

"It’s really a collage of TV noise and active camera travelling that give a loop impression. It was inspired by the low budget grunge videos, especially the work of Jim Spring & Jens Jurgensen who collaborated with Pussy Galore, Dinosaur Jr and many other great bands.”
