Video: Maylee Todd boogies through the streets of Tokyo in “Hieroglyphics”

Japanese funk from Toronto's disco-soul sweetheart.

- Feb 25, 2014

Maylee Todd just released the first EP with her synthy side project Ark Analog (with Dan Werb from Woodhands), but her last solo album, Escapology, has been given a mouth-to-mouth by a fortuitous trip to Japan. Originally planned as a promo clip for her Billboard Live showcase, her new video for “Hieroglyphics” is another in a long line of ridiculously fun Maylee performances. Like in her live shows, it’s hard to take your eyes off the Toronto disco-soul singer as she boogies through Tokyo’s scramble crossings and subways, with and without a tiny dog, with and without cosmic effects.

Maylee Todd's Escapology is out now via Do Right Music. Ark Analog's Dirty Power EP is available for free download.
