Chaz Bundick, the 25-year-old South Carolina artist behind Toro Y Moi, was initially touted as a pioneer of chillwave. But after a sonic shift on his latest full-length Underneath The Pine, it's a bit harder to place him. Bundick's groovy pop lives somewhere inside the Bermuda Triangle of sixties psychedelia, seventies funk, and contemporary dance music, striking an admirably relevant balance of all three -- and then some.
While touring his Freaking Out EP last year, Chaz met up with CHART to discuss his diverse musical influences and more. Here's what the soft-spoken singer had to say.
