MP3 Roundup: New music from Andrew Bird, Dr. Dog, and (Fleet Foxes side-project) Poor Moon

Andrew Bird - “Eyeoneye”

Two weeks ago, we announced that Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird was set to release his sixth album, Break It Yourself, on March 6. Now we have the first taste of what the album will sound like with "Eyeoneye." The track has some surprisingly rockin' drums, but Bird still keeps it real with his trademark whistles and looping effects.

Dr. Dog - “Lonesome”

"What does it take to be lonesome? / Nothin' at all" sings Toby Leaman on Dr. Dog's second Be The Void single, "Lonesome." On this track, we hear Dr. Dog take a soulful, bluesy approach, especially in McMicken's vocals and in the abundant slide guitar. It's a great song that yearns for a crowd sing-along, and is no doubt going to be an excellent addition to the band's energetic live set. Dr. Dog's upcoming album Be the Void is out February 7.

Poor Moon - “People In Her Mind”

Poor Moon will have a nice jumpstart to their career thanks to two words: Fleet Foxes. FF members Christian Wargo (bass) and Casey Wescott (keyboard/mandolin) have branched off their colossally popular project to form Poor Moon (named after the awesome Canned Heat song) with two buddies. Their debut EP Illusion is set for release in late March on Sub Pop (also home to Fleet Foxes), but in the meantime you can enjoy this delightful, harmony-laden preview, “People In Her Mind.”
