A couple of years ago, Memoryhouse captured the hearts of
listeners with “Lately,”
a heavenly song that showcased singer Denise Nouvion’s wistful
vocals overtop a Jon
Brion-sampling instrumental (though the song was later rerecorded with piano in place of
Brion’s sample). “Lately” was – and still is – a perfect soundtrack for your solitary
bouts of melancholy. Also, it will score you some really emotional make outs.
Now signed to Sub Pop (with whom they re-released their EP The Years in 2011), Memoryhouse will soon release their
debut full-length, The Slideshow Effect.
Though the duo is still obsessed with filmic imagery and, well, memory, The Slideshow Effect is noticeably less
sonically washy than previous material. But don’t take my word for it; you can listen to the full album streaming
