Tyler, The Creator makes sure to let his followers know how passionate he is about being behind the camera and taking an active role in
directing his own music videos. He’s often said he prefers this line of work over
rapping at all. Tyler has the creativity and the ability to direct as seen in his
music videos for the viral and tenacious “Yonkers” (a nominee for the 2011 MTV
Video Awards Video of the Year) and “She” both under the moniker Wolf Haley. He’s
also shown he has much to learn with the mess of a video that is “Bitch Suck
Dick”.
“Rella” fits somewhere in between Tyler’s videos for “She” and “Bitch
Suck Dick”. It’s colorful and entertaining but it’s missing some of the
bite, some of that umph that “Yonkers” displayed so effortlessly. “Rella”, in a word is weird. The video features
Hodgy Beats turning girls into cats with his dick laser, Domo Genesis looking
like this and Tyler inhaling
a giant mound of cocaine as a centaur while he shows the world his mangina. Judging by “Rella”, it seems OFWGKTA are making the choice to channel their inner D12 and sweeping the Wu-Tang Clan in them off to the side.
