Finally getting the message that his music is far too ostentatious and that he should tone it down a bit for all our sakes, Justin Vernon aka Bon Iver has produced a five-track reimagining of four of his songs, along with a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” Along with Bon Iver’s drummer and apparent pianist Sean Carey, this pared-down studio set is a testament to Vernon’s remarkable talent, and is a helpful reminder that if you know someone this skilled you should grab onto them and never let go, because they might win a Grammy someday.
Watch the video below, and keep an eye on Vernon during the thirteen minute mark, when he does something with the inside of his piano that I can only describe as a metaphorical kickflip.
