1) John K. Samson “Letter In Icelandic From The Ninette San”
After releasing three EP’s in the past 15 years, John K. Samson (The Weakerthans, Propagandhi) will release his first solo, full-length album, Provincial. As you can hear in his new song “Letter In Icelandic From The Ninette San,” he strays from his Propagandhi punk roots and holds on to the folk asthetics of the Weakerthans to create this beautiful, stripped down track. Provincial is shaping up to be a true Canadian soundtrack, as the songs were written about Samson’s home province of Manitoba. Grab the album on January 24 via Epitaph and ANTI-.
