The band that is also sometimes known as The RK Fries or The Suburbs, The Arcade Fire have released two versions of their new music video for The Suburbs standout track “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)”; one which is a traditional video, the other interactive (which they’ve done before with “We Used to Wait”. Both were directed by Vincent Morisset and both are fantastic.
The “traditional” video finds Régine Chassagne without the rest of the Arcades, dancing through desolate suburban locales in ’50s garb and headphones, with a bunch of surreal faceless back up dancers in tow. The video is infectious and ends with Régine dressed in some bright, gaudy dresses – beautiful and fun.
The interactive video, which you can try here, utilizes your webcam (or you can just use your mouse) to interact with images from the video. The idea is that you dance along with the video, which is easy enough, as long you’re not one of the naysayers with your arms folded tight.
