The National has been in a festive spirit as of late, collaborating with some of indie-rock’s finest as they blaze through tour dates in Canada.
First there was their appearance at Toronto’s Glenn Gould Studio for CBC Radio One’s Q with Jian Ghomeshi, during which the Brooklyn-based band was joined on stage by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon for a charming rendition of “Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks” from last year’s High Violet. All in attendance were fully supportive of Decembeard.
But when they entered Win Butler’s stomping grounds on Friday night, the Arcade Fire frontman hopped on stage to help out with “Start A War”. Win’s bandmate Richard Parry also joined, and the crowd was thrilled:
