We recently posted a track from forthcoming LP Le Voyage Dans La Lune (featuring Victoria Legrand of Beach House), which was inspired by their recent work with the 1902 Méliès French short film of the same name.
You can now watch a short clip from the restored and re-mastered version of this pre-cinema classic, featuring Air’s original score. The full film premiered at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, and let’s hope the whole thing surfaces online soon.
Incidentally, Air aren’t the only band to be entranced by Le Voyage; the short film was a notable inspiration for Smashing Pumpkin’s “Tonight, Tonight” music video (Useless trivia to impress your friends with).
Air’s album will be released next year on February 7th via Astralwerks, with a limited edition set comprised of the album, as well as the full restored version of Le Voyage Dans La Lune. Watch the clip below, via NPR:
