“i Used To Watch George Benson Jam Sessions, Always Wanting To Do That On Keys, But Never Knew Musicians…..Finally Fucking Did It So Stoked” – @fucktyler
More often than not Tyler, The Creator’s actual musicianship is masked by his homophobic slurs, rediculous stage antics and gravitation towards not “giving a fuck”. He’s shed some light on his passion for jazz and improvisation in interviews such as this one with Nardwuar but rarely are we able to see a glimpse of the musician that is Tyler, The Creator. To our knowledge these are the only two videos that exists of the OFWGKTA ring-leader performing with a live band and I was pleasantly surprised. Tyler’s track “Seven” off his first mixtape Bastard premiered a few days ago while “Fish” off his latest release Goblin dropped tonight. BADBADNOTGOOD are an experimental jazz-influenced trip from Toronto who have made some noise this past year for their Goblin Sessions as well as a fantastic cover of A Tribe Called Quest’s “Electric Relaxation” and more. There is obvious chemistry between BBNG and Tyler and it’ll be very interesting to see if anything comes of this collaboration.
