<p><strong>1) The Weeknd – “Initiation”<br /></strong>

</p><p>Not even two months after releasing his free-to-download mixtape <a href=”http://the-weeknd.com/”><em>Thursday</em></a>, Toronto’s R&B revivalist The Weeknd has dropped a new track via his <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/theweeknd”>Facebook page</a>. “Initiation” is dark and ballsy, and a reminder of why this emphatically mysterious artist has elicited so much hype. It would’ve been pretty awesome if he had debuted this track at last month’s Polaris Prize gala, but despite being nominated for the $30,000 prize <em>and</em> the gala taking place in his own city, he was a no show.</p>
<p><strong>2) Boris – “Spoon”</strong>
</p><p><object width=”100%” height=”81″> <param name=”movie” value=”http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F24790146″ /> <param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always” /> <embed type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”100%” height=”81″ src=”http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F24790146″ allowscriptaccess=”always”></embed> </object>
</p><p> Japanese experimental rockers Boris are almost celebrating their twentieth birthday, and at this pace we should be bracing ourselves for another twenty years. This sugary slice of power-pop is a cut from <em>New Album</em>, which is in fact an old album that dropped earlier this year and was almost immediately followed up by the simultaneously-released <em>Attention Please</em> and <em>Heavy Rocks</em>. <em>New Album</em> is only now getting international distribution, hence the promotion of “Spoon”. A less poppy version of the same song is also included on <em>Attention Please</em> – you can listen to that <a href=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwSznsNgSOQ”>here</a>.
</p><p><strong>3) Oneohtrix Point Never – “Replica”</strong>
</p><p><object width=”100%” height=”81″> <param name=”movie” value=”http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F24999271″ /> <param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always” /> <embed type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”100%” height=”81″ src=”http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F24999271″ allowscriptaccess=”always”></embed> </object><span><a href=”http://soundcloud.com/mexicansummer/oneohtrix-point-never-replica”></a></span> </p>
<p>Oneohtrix Point Never is Daniel Lopatin, an experimental artist with an incredible knack for crafting highly evocative ambient tunes. “Replica” comes from his forthcoming LP of the same name. Put this on your headphones next time you’re woefully gazing out your bedroom window at rain pouring on the filthy city streets at dusk. I’ll do the same, and we can totally talk about how it made us feel!</p>
