Back in January, organizers of the annual Heavy MTL festival in Montreal announced the extravaganza would expand to Toronto this year. They’ve now finalized the lineup, and it will be headlined by Megadeth and Rob Zombie.
Billy Talent, Slayer, Anthrax, Motorhead, Opeth, Mastodon, Children Of Bodom, Testament, As I Lay Dying, The Sword, Devildriver, Anvil, Baptized In Blood, Melissa Auf Der Maur and others will play the festival, which takes place July 23 and 24 at Toronto’s Downsview Park. More acts will be announced shortly.
Yes, if you’re keeping track, that’s the exact same two days as Heavy MTL, which is kind of a scheduling fail, but hey, it’s not at the same time because some of the same acts will be playing each festival. Kinda like they do with Reading and Leeds in England each year, see?
Tickets to Heavy TO go on sale Friday at 11 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster and Toronto record stores Rotate This and Soundscapes. Weekend passes will run you $135, while single-day tickets are going for $72.50 each.
Special edition weekend passes, which are apparently “limited-edition tickets” (no, we don’t know what that means) are $145.
Single-day passes to the Live Nation Lounge, which gets you access to exclusive bars and bathrooms, access to limited general admission bleacher seating and a commemorative laminate are $150, while weekend passes are going for $275.
More artists have also been added to the Heavy MTL festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau. KISS will headline the second day of the event, and will be joined by Motorhead, Opeth, Anthrax, Children Of Bodom, As I Lay Dying, The Sword, Times Of Grace and Devildriver.
Tickets to Heavy MTL go on sale on Saturday at noon ET through evenko.ca.
