It probably isn’t shocking to you that Queen‘s “We Will Rock You” was the most-played song during sporting events in the 2009-2010 season.
But though you might hear the song often at Toronto Maple Leafs games, National Hockey League teams don’t use it as much as they do other tunes. It’s the most-played song at National Football League games.
Here’s where things get surprising. Christina Aguilera’s “Car Wash” shows up at #5 on the list, which is odd considering… who’d want to play Christina Aguilera at any sporting event? (Or ever? Really?)
BMI reports that Major League Baseball uses the song more than the other two leagues, which makes us wonder if it’s some high-profile player’s batting song. But seriously, who the hell would ever want to walk up to the plate with Christina Aguilera blaring? It practically screams “I sit most of the year on the bench, can’t hit for my life and I’m a pussy.”
Nickelback’s “Burn It To The Ground” is at #3 on the list, which is icky in every sense because while we get that Nickelback are all about the rawkin’ out and using as much pyro as humanly possible at their shows… for fuck’s sake, it’s Nickelback.
Other names appearing in the top 10 include Kevin Rudolf, Black Eyed Peas, Sean Kingston, Blur, Soulja Boy (who will hopefully be forgotten very, very soon), Jay-Z and, rather bizarrely, Bush. I guess that’s one of the only ways people remember Gavin Rossdale these days.
