Tegan And Sara, Zeus and Stars all lead the list of nominees for this year’s XM Verge Music Awards. They all picked up two nods each yesterday.
The three artists are up for the album of the year and artist of the year prizes, while Arcade Fire — who were also nominated for several Juno Awards yesterday — are up for artist of the year.
New to the Verge Music Awards this year is the emerging artist of the year category. Hannah Georgas — who also received a Juno nomination yesterday — Bedouin Soundclash frontman Jay Malinowski, PS I Love You and The Rural Alberta Advantage are among the nominees in that category.
The winner(s) of the album and artist of the year will receive $25,000 each, respectively, while the artist that takes the emerging artist of the year award will go home with $5,000.
The 2011 Verge Music Awards take place March 1 at Toronto’s Mod Club and will be announced live on The Verge XM 87 beginning at 6 p.m. ET that day.
Tickets to the event are on sale now for $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. You can get them through Toronto record store Rotate This, but do it fast because there’s a limited amount of them on sale.
