Sorry, Daft Punk, but you can’t count Chad VanGaalen among the fans of your recently released TRON: Legacy score.
VanGaalen’s just getting into making music scores, since he recently did the music for a Lifetime Collective fashion ad. He’s very quickly figuring out what type of scores he likes and doesn’t like.
“The soundtrack, uh, I don’t know…” VanGaalen told Spinner. “There were a few things that were wrong with TRON, and I didn’t really expect too much from it to begin with.
“Jeff Bridges is in it, and I totally love Jeff Bridges, but I had problems with CGI Jeff Bridges — that was totally creeping me out. And the music, I don’t know… I love that music just for the sake of it being what it is, but yeah, I don’t know.”
Spinner’s story then says VanGaalen added “a few comparisons and insults we can’t repeat here.”
BOO! Now we want to know what he said.
Spinner reports VanGaalen’s also been redoing elements of classic movie scores, and recently did two five-minute pieces, which he hopes will get him grant approval for the project.
You know what else we want? A new Chad VanGaalen album, that’s what. His most recent release is 2008′s Soft Airplane, which was short listed for the 2009 Polaris Music Prize.
