Slipknot Frontman Putting Out Book About Seven Deadly Sins

Greed. Pride. Lust. Envy. Gluttony. Sloth. Wrath.

These are the Seven Deadly Sins — or the Capital Vices or Cardinal Sins, depending on what you want to call them.

Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor happens to know a lot about them — and no, that's not because he's a "sinner" or anything some fundamentalist might say. It's because he's working on an as-yet-untitled book about the sins, which he hopes will be out sometime next spring.

"I just finished writing it, and it's being edited right now," Taylor told Attention Deficit Delirium. "It's about the Seven Deadly Sins and my take on them and how I don't think they're sins at all.

"They're human characteristics. They're just human flaws and things that we all experience, yet because we all deal with them we're all doomed? Screw you.

"To me, it's just a part of being human, and it's me making the case for that and saying that you can go through all of these things and at the end of the day you can still be a good person.

"I'm telling stories from my past and balancing humour with serious, dark stuff. I'm really excited about it."

Taylor says he wrote the book himself, which means there was no secret ghostwriter doing his work for him, and it's coming out on Da Capo Press.

He'll obviously have a lot to keep him busy until the book's release, seeing as his Stone Sour band just put out their third album, Audio Secrecy, and Slipknot plan to release a DVD called (sic)nesses on Sept. 28.

That DVD features the band's recent performance at the 2009 Download Festival in Donington, England, as well as a 45-minute documentary by percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan and four videos from last year's All Hope Is Gone and short films about making them.

The DVD's also obviously a noteworthy release in itself, since it contains footage of late bassist Paul "#2" Gray, who died of an accidental drug overdose in May. It's the band's first release since his death.
