After several weeks of the usual mid-summer doldrums, things on the campus chart are starting to heat up heading into the historically chaotic period marked by the beginning of the new university school year in September. Here's a glance at the campus chart for the week of Aug. 8 to 14, 2010.

Wolf Parade's Expo 86 remains at #1 for a third week with a weaker hold on the top spot. The album received 1,110 aggregate points compared to the 955 points for the runner-up, Arcade Fire's fast rising The Suburbs.

Arcade Fire's third full-length races up nine place to land at #2. This rise is overshadowed by the unlikely arrival a spot below.

Wavves' King Of The Beach is almost king of the charts this week, debuting at #3. Such impressive entries usually belong to veteran college radio heavyweights and popular Canadian bands. Wavves is neither of these and King Of The Beach still attracted enough notice to be one of the highest debuts of 2010.

Former #1 band Tokyo Police Club sees Champ, their new album, fall two places to #4. They're followed by Rae Spoon's Love Is A Hunter, another new entry, which debuts at #5. With Wavves and Rae Spoon doing so well Stars' The Five Ghosts falls a couple of places to #6 followed by Menomena's Mines which is at #7 again this week.

Broken Social Scene's Forgiveness Rock Record, another former top chart dog, tumbles down the chart five spots to #8. Don't feel too bad for BSS. Their latest album has been in the top 10 for a dozen weeks.

Sarah Harmer's Oh Little Fire falls three places to #9, and The New Pornographers' Together slips a spot to #10.

There are a few notable movements on the rest of the campus chart. Forest City Lovers' Carriage makes a strong rebound this week, rising 29 places to grab the #12 spot this week.

Maps & Atlases' Perch Patchwork re-enters the campus chart after a week's absence at #23, beating new entries El-P 's Weareallgoingtoburninhell at #25 and Danny Michel's Sunset Sea at #26. Other key debuts include The Golden Dogs' Coat Of Arms at #31, Best Coast's Crazy For You at #40 and Birthday Cakes' Expansion Pack at #48.

The other chart anomaly surrounds the oldest albums on this week's chart. There are 11 albums that have charted for at least 10 weeks, which is higher than normal. They are led by Caribou's Swim, which rises six spots to #19, logging 16 weeks and The New Pornographers' Together, which now has 15 weeks.

There are three specialty charts with returning #1 albums: Crystal Castles' second self-titled disc stays at the top of the Electronic top 10, The Roots' How I Got Over holds is spot at #1 on the Hip Hop chart, and Vox Arcana's Aerial Age is still at #1 on the Jazz/Blues top 10.

The other two genre-specific top 10 lists have new #1s. The Metal/Punk chart features a top disc in only its sophomore week, as Zoroaster's Matador rises five spots to capture the top spot.

The World/Folk chart features another one of those great Soundway Records retro compilations. This week The World Ends: Afro Rock And Psychedelia In 1970s Nigeria rises two places to grab the top spot on the this top 10.
