Last week the Charty Chart Chat staff were surprised that Diamond Rings didn’t repeat as chart campion. This week we’re equally surprised becase they did return to the top of the chart heap.
Two weeks ago, Diamond Rings‘ Special Affections grabbed the #1 position knocking long-running #1 Women’s Public Strain down to #2. Last week Public Strain retook the top spot. Again this week Special Affections claws it way back to #1 and Public Strain falls to #2.
Belle And Sebastian’s Write About Love slides down a spot to #3 while Sufjan Stevens’ The Age Of Adz stalls at #4. In fact the same two albums that followed The Age Of Adz last week remain there again this week as Deerhunter’s Halcyon Digest at #5 and Suuns’ Zeroes EP at #6. both remain in stasis.
There were some changes below this trio of releases as PS I Love You’s Meet Me At The Muster Station rises three spots to #7 as does Black Mountain’s Wilderness Heart rising a three-spot to #8. Olenka And The Autumn’s And Now We Sing jumps 11 spots to #9 and Hot Panda’s How Come I’m Dead? rises six spots to #10.
The Chart Sizzler Award given to the #1 debut of the week goes to The Russian Futurists‘ The Weight’s On The Wheel, entering at #17. The Weight’s On The Wheel appeared on eight individual charts this week led by Lakehead’s CILU at # and Erindale’s CFRE at #6.
The runner-up debut this week is a bit of a surprise as the current World/Folk chart topper, Afrocubism’s self-titled release arrives at #19. After that, Syl Johnson’s Complete Mythology enters at #22 and Weekend’s Sports arrives at #25.
Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs continues to chug along falling three places to #15 in its 18th week on the chart. Winter Gloves’ All Red rises four places in its 15th week on the campus chart.
On the other four specialty charts, there were three new top albums.
Cradle Of Filth’s Darkly, Darkly Venus Aversa jumps two spots to reach #1 on the Metal/Punk top ten.
Diamond Rings’ Special Affections finally reaches the #1 album spot on the Electronic/RPM chart.
While over on the Jazz/Blues top ten, the avant-garde, Aeroplane Trio debut at #1 with their new album, Naranja Ha.
Along with the Afrocubism repeat on the World/Folk chart, More Or Less’ Brunch With A Vengeance remains as the #1 album on the Hip-Hop chart.
